Program Summary


The purpose of the Nursing Assistant Program is to fulfill the seventy-five (75) hour Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) requirements for training of long-term care nursing assistants in preparation for certification through competency evaluation. Emphasis is placed on the development of the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required of the long-term care nursing assistant. Upon completion of this course, the student should demonstrate satisfactory performance on written examinations and clinical skills. 

Note: This course is not offered for college credit at Reid State Technical College.   

Nursing Assistant Program:

The course is offered on the Reid State Technical College campus twice per semester in the fall and spring then once in the summer semester.  The class will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday for six weeks from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. Orientation, Ready to Work and Career Pathways will be held two weeks prior to the nursing assistant class beginning on August 5, 2019 at 0800 - 2:00pm in Building 100, Rm 104. After successfully completing the course, the student will receive a certificate of completion and will be eligible to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam. The cost of is $2,500.00 (this amount covers everything in the program except the background/drug screen and health insurance). Students are required to complete a background/drug screen and provide health insurance at their expense. If health insurance is not available, we will provide you with health insurance information.

Course Credit: NAS100: Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant  4 credit hours
The class will meet on August 5, 2019 in Building 100, Rm 104 from 8:00am -  2:00pm for Orientation, Ready-To-Work information, and Career Essential Pathways testing.
