Admission Requirements
Applicants to this program must complete the application procedures and be 21 years of age. While a high school diploma or GED is the preferred entry requirement, applicants who did not receive a high school diploma or GED may be admitted upon demonstration of ability-to-benefit on a standardized, federally approved entrance test. Additionally, applicants must provide a motor vehicle driving record (MVR) for the last three years. Students will also submit a D.O.T. physical, drug screen, and alcohol test in accordance with the Department of Transportation Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.
Alabama Department of Public Safety regulation, effective January 1, 2006 requires a student to posses one of the following commercial licenses:
1. Commercial Learner License (CLL) - A CLL is required for someone to legally drive upon the highway if they do not currently possess a CDL. A state learner license, valid for up to one year, shall be considered valid commercial drivers' licenses for purposes of behind-the-wheel training on the public roads or highways. This includes Class D privileges. This license issued to Class D operators or individuals with no driver license.
General Information
- All tuition and fees must be paid to admitted to class.
- Student must be registered by starting time of third day of class.
- D.O.T. Physical and Drug Screen must be completed and file with RSTC before a student can perform safety sensitive functions. (Safety sensitive functions begin the morning of the third day of class). We strongly suggest that you get your physical and drug screen one week prior to class.
- Students required to take the Ability To Benefit test must schedule an appointment with Mrs. Mandy Wilson (251)-578-1313 ext. 149 in building 100 prior to the first day of class.
- Financial Aid Assistance Available: See Mrs. Christy Goodwin in the Financial Aid Office to complete a Financial Aid Form. See Mrs. Sharon North, Building 400 two to four weeks before classes begin for V.A. Program, W.I.A. and Scholarships.
- Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check must be requested by the student on proper forms.
- Doctor Approved for Physical and Drug Screen
