Early Child Care Education is in the public spotlight. We are a child-centered society - a society that views children as important. Addressing children's essential needs in areas of physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth and development allows educators to observe each child through the whole child approach. With current emphasis on brain development during a child's formative years (0-3), there are challenges posed in meeting the needs of young children for parents, caregivers, and educators.
Our Early Child Care Education Program here at Reid State points individuals in the right direction for success in working with children by understanding children. Our program promotes goals and functional areas as follows:
To establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment
To advance physical and intellectual competence
To support social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
To establish positive and productive relationships with families'
To ensure a well-run, purposeful program
To maintain a commitment to professionalism
Upon completion of our Certificate Program, individuals may gain entrance into the Child Care profession. Upon completion of our Associate Degree Program, individuals are prepared for employment as child care directors or teachers, Head Start teachers or assistants, teacher's aides in public/private schools, or home providers who manage their own businesses.
