Reid State Technical College - GED Testing

What To Expect Prior To The GED Test:

* One week each month is devoted solely to GED testing. GED Test registration will be on Tuesday
from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. prior to testing. Testing is administered on Wednesday and Thursday. Sorry, no walk-ins are allowed on test days.

* Bring a valid picture ID and a signed, non-laminated social security card to all meetings.

* Fill out paperwork and present letters of approval.



* Pay the applicable fee:    $50.00 for complete battery
  $10.00 for each retest
* Money orders, cashiers check, or cash is the accepted method of payment. ( No personal checks.)

* Contact Mrs. Mandy Wilson, GED Examiner, for scheduling at 251-578-1313, ext # 149. Office is
located in Bldg #100. Be sure to start the process far enough ahead so that you meet the requirements prior to your desired testing date.

Ask us about: Testing with ACCOMMODATIONS are available for those with proven physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. Accommodations must be documented and applied for. Approval takes approximately three to four weeks.

Am I eligible to take the GED Tests?
In order to be administered the GED Test, candidates shall:

a. Not be enrolled in a public K-12 school, a private K-12 school, a church school or a private tutor program registered with the Alabama Department of Education.
b. Not have earned a secondary school diploma from a public school or a private school registered with the Alabama Department of Education. NOTE: Those awarded the Alabama Occupational Diploma (AOD) are eligible to take the GED Test.
C. Meet one of the following requirements:
  • 1. Eighteen (18) years if age or older.
  • 2. Seventeen (17) years of age, exited an Alabama public school on or after August 1, 2009 and present to the GED Examiner a notarized Student Exit Interview form from the school system.
  • 3. Sixteen (16) or seventeen (17) years of age, resident of Alabama, exited a private school, a church school, or a private tutor program and must present to the GED Examiner a notarized letter from a parent/legal guardian that the applicant has exited the school/program and has permission to be administered the GED test.
